Some traditional methods of protection include:
- A piece of iron, it is said to banish them or render them powerles
- Scyth blades or any other farm tool of that nature hung over the door to prevent them from entering
- Broken mirror pieces placed in a jar and set on the sill of the main window in your house, visualize the pieces as having
become millions of smaller mirrors that reflect away all uninvited guests
- A cat, they are psychically sensetive and can see and chase away faeries
- Certain herbs such as the following: clove, bay, blackberry, black pepper, frankinsence, witch hazel, any mint, linden,
garlic, mandrake, and tomatoes
- Use the faerie's real name, such as in the tale of Rumpelstiltskin
- Make a sharp noise. Bells, clapping, and snapping work especially well. Windchimes also work as they are just different
forms of bells.
For any other way to protect yourself from faerie(like a spell) read Edain McCoy's book A Witch's Guide to
Faery Folk.
